French President Emmanuel Macron's wife Brigitte Macron may have slapped him in the face after she found out about his romantic correspondence with another woman. This is stated by the political journalist of the Paris Match publication Florian Tardif in his book “An (almost) perfect couple”, but people from the circle of the first lady of France in a commentary to the publication Politico stated that Macron’s wife categorically denies this.
What happened
In May 2025, during the Macrons' visit to Vietnam, the first lady of France slapped her husband as he was about to get off the plane. The moment was caught on video, and the French President, commenting on it, said that nothing like that actually happened, and he and his wife were just joking.
Later, the political journalist of the publication Paris Match, Florian Tardif, published the book “An (almost) perfect couple,” in which he claims that Brigitte Macron “lost her temper” when, during a flight, she accidentally discovered a message on her husband’s phone from the Iranian-French actress Golshifteh Farahani.
Speaking on RTL radio on May 13, Tardif said that the French president had maintained a “platonic relationship” with Farahani for several months, but judging by the correspondence, fragments of which were sent to the journalist by people from Macron’s entourage, the French president’s relationship with the actress actually “went quite far.”
According to Tardif, in one of the messages Macron admitted to Farahani that he found her very attractive. The journalist emphasized that he carefully double-checked this version before including it in his book.
