Nicușor Dan says what question he will ask the parties at the consultations: “I will not do experiments”

President Nicușor Dan declared on Tuesday that he will not experiment by appointing some people for the position of prime minister before making sure that they have a parliamentary majority to vote for the investiture of the Government.
He emphasized that at the consultations in Cotroceni he will ask all the parties to say if they have a majority.
“The request I will have with all the party delegations with whom we will meet, for any of the government proposals, my question will be whether or not they have negotiated a majority,” Nicușor Dan emphasized.
The president also admitted that in the current situation of political crisis there are few options by which the majority can be obtained.
“I expect the parties to keep the options they have said in the public space. Government variants supported by the majority in Parliament are relatively few. I will not do experiments, I don't think it is useful for Romania, in which we propose a prime minister and let them see if they make a majority,” stated Nicușor Dan.
He also said what his condition would be before making the designation.
“I want us to get a prime ministerial proposal and compatible program elements that will garner a majority before I appoint the prime minister,” he concluded.
The next round will be of formal consultations, said Nicușor Dan, and all parliamentary parties will be invited. Asked about the possibility of a technocrat prime minister, Nicușor Dan said that “there is a chance” but he will not advance names until there is a majority that supports such a designation.
