The Department for Emergency Situations presents on Sunday the “noble gesture” made by a firefighter from ISU Botoșani, who helped a family with seven children to have a house, after the owner of the house where they were renting asked them to leave.
According to DSU, the firefighter's name is Gheorghe Cozmolici, adjutant platoon leader at ISU Botoșani.
“Adjutant platoon sergeant Gheorghe Cozmolici, from ISU Botoșani understood that the duty to save lives is not limited only to interventions against the clock. Together with his wife, Bianca, he offered a chance for a dignified life to a hard-pressed family”, DSU reported on the institution's Facebook page.
The fireman had been next door to the family with seven children, who lived in a rented apartment. A year and a half ago, the owner asked them to leave.
“A year and a half ago, a family with seven children – former neighbors of the fireman – risked being left on the streets after the owner of the rented house asked them to leave. The saving solution: Without hesitating, the Cozmolici family opened the door to the house they inherited from their grandparents, in the Vlăsinești commune. What was an empty house quickly became a home full of life and safety,” DSU reported.
The authorities also say that, beyond the roof provided, Gheorghe and Bianca constantly supported the family and then baptized the family's youngest child.
Gheorghe, together with his colleagues from the Săveni Fire Station, now visited the children, brought food, clothes and gifts, “turning the house in Vlăsinești into a symbol of hope”.
”This is the story of a man who chose to put out the 'fire' of a family's despair by offering the most precious resource: humanity,” DSU concluded.
