The Ministry of Education and Science established a “day of silence” for enrollment in universities

The Russian Ministry of Education and Science announced the introduction of a “day of silence” for admission to Russian universities; on this day, applicants will not be able to carry out any actions with their application and consent, deputy head of the department Andrei Omelchuk told RIA Novosti.

“To make the admissions process more predictable and fair for applicants, this year for the first time we established a so-called day of silence,” he said.

On the day that admissions committees issue admission orders, applicants receive a clear understanding of their status, and further changes to the admission consent and application are temporarily suspended. This will allow applicants to calmly plan their next steps, and admissions committees to complete the enrollment process in an orderly manner, the agency’s interlocutor explained.

According to Omelchuk, this innovation will allow the university to approach orders more correctly.

“The lack of movement on the very last day will make the situation significantly more predictable for applicants,” he added.

Other innovations in the admissions campaign for the 2026/2027 academic year include a single digital channel for submitting documents through the State Services portal. As Omelchuk explained, this will make the admission process uniform for all students and will avoid a large number of mistakes.
