Volodymyr Zelensky on the end of the war. “Putin is ready, we pushed a little”

— Vladimir Putin finally says himself that he is ready to end the war. We put a little pressure on him, Volodymyr Zelensky said in his Sunday evening speech.

The Ukrainian president also said that it was necessary to end the war and “reliably guarantee security.” “We need to look for a meeting format that would allow this to happen,” he said, quoted by Ukraińska Pravda.

Vladimir Putin spoke about ending the war. “I think it's getting closer.”

Vladimir Putin said on Saturday that “the conflict with Ukraine is coming to an end.” — If Volodymyr Zelensky wants to meet, he can come to Moscow, he said.

The dictator also said that Moscow is grateful to the United States for facilitating talks, but peace negotiations are “only a matter for Russia and Ukraine.” — We can also meet in a third country, but only if a final agreement is reached on a peace treaty, which should take into account a long-term historical perspective, the Russian leader noted.

Earlier, Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andriy Sybiga stated that Kiev would agree to any location for a potential meeting between Volodymyr Zelensky and Vladimir Putin, except for Russia and Belarus.

Russians continue to attack Ukraine

On Sunday, Volodymyr Zelensky also spoke about violating the temporary ceasefire with Russia. — There were no massive attacks today: missile or air raids. But there is no peace on the front, in the towns near the front. The Russians continue their attack operations in key areas, he emphasized.

— Over the last 24 hours and today, there have been over 150 assault operations, over a hundred shellings and almost ten thousand further kamikaze drone attacks. This means that the Russian army does not comply with the arrangements and does not even try to do so, he noted. — We will respond in the same way if the Russians decide to return to full-scale war, our response will be immediate and tangible. Distance is becoming less and less important, we have shown this with our long-range attacks. Ukraine has always been clear and honest on this issue, he added.

Ceasefire and exchange of prisoners between Russia and Ukraine

Over the past few days, a ceasefire has been announced by the Ukrainian and Russian sides. First, Moscow proposed a truce for May 8-11. Kiev rejected this deadline, accusing the Kremlin of violating the ceasefire announced by the Ukrainian side on May 5 and 6.

On Friday evening, Donald Trump announced that Russia and Ukraine had agreed to a ceasefire and that it would last from May 9 to 11. The American president said that both sides of the conflict would carry out an exchange of prisoners in the “1,000 for 1,000” formula.

Due to the ongoing war between the US and Israel against Iran, Ukraine-US-Russia negotiations were last held in February. It was previously announced that the talks could take place between March 5 and 9.
