The Kremlin canceled the previously issued accreditation for the May 9 parade in Moscow from a number of foreign media outlets, the German Der Spiegel reported.
The publication indicates that journalists were informed about the cancellation of permission to attend the event by telephone. The same calls were received by the TV channels ARD, ZDF, Sky, Rai, NHK and the AFP news agency.
The format of the parade's coverage “has been changed due to the current situation, so foreign media whose accreditation has already been confirmed will no longer be allowed,” Der Spiegel quoted a Kremlin spokesman as saying.
Only Russian media will be allowed to attend the parade. This is the first time that foreign journalists were first given accreditation for the May 9 parade and then had it revoked, the German magazine points out.
Journalists suggest that this year's parade will be greatly reduced compared to previous years. Read more in the publication “GORDON”.
