The cancellation of one of the most popular series in recent years has been officially confirmed

The kitchen closes. FX has officially confirmed that the fifth season of the multi-Emmy award-winning series “The Bear” will be its last, with the American broadcaster also revealing that the final installment of the food-themed comedy-drama will be released at the end of June, Variety reports.
FX has announced that the fifth season of “The Bear” will be streaming on Hulu on June 25. In Romania it will be able to be seen streaming on Disney+, being possible to appear with a delay of one day due to the time zone difference with the USA.
What is certain is that, like the previous seasons, the finale of “The Bear” will be released in its entirety on the premiere date. That means all 8 episodes of it will be available to watch right after season 5 hits the platform.
The latest season of “The Bear” begins the morning after the shocking finale of the previous one, when Sydney (played by Ayo Edebiri), Richie and Natalie (Abby Elliott) learn that Carmy (Jeremy Allen White) has given up on the restaurant business and is leaving the place in their hands.
“With no money, facing the threat of a sale and a torrential storm standing in their way, the new partners must join forces with the rest of the team to pull off one last service, hoping to finally earn a Michelin star. Ultimately, they learn that what makes a restaurant 'perfect' might not be the food, but the people,” notes the official description for the new season.
FX has yet to release an official trailer for it.
The cancellation of “The Bear” was an open secret
For many fans of the popular series, the news now officially announced by FX may not come as a surprise.
Jamie Lee Curtis, who won an Emmy Award for her recurring role as Carmy and Natalie's mother, has said several times, including in a recent interview with Entertainment Tonight, that “The Bear” has reached the end of the road.
“It's the end of the series,” she said in response to speculation that a message she posted on Instagram on Feb. 17 referred to “the end of the story” in “The Bear.”
“Everybody knows it's the end of the series. I'm not revealing any new information to anybody. It's the end of the series — they've said that from the beginning,” she stressed, although FX has not made an official announcement about it.
The series “The Bear” has won more than 20 Emmy Awards
THR noted at the time that the decision didn't come as much of a surprise, despite the success of “The Bear.” That's because lead actor Jeremy Allen White has said in previous interviews that show creator Christopher Storer had originally conceived a four-season narrative plan for the story. Basically, FX asked for one more.
In its first three seasons, “The Bear” won 21 Emmy Awards, considered the “Oscars of television.” These included the trophy for best comedy series in 2023 – one of 10 Emmy Awards won that year – as well as acting awards for Jeremy Allen White, Jamie Lee Curtis, Ayo Edebiri, Ebon Moss-Bachrach, Liza Colón-Zayas and Jon Bernthal.
Season four will be eligible for the September 2026 Emmy Awards.
“The Bear” was the first of the landmark series produced by FX in recent years, its productions also include “Shogun”, “Alien: Earth” or, more recently, “The Lowdown”.
They can be seen streaming in Romania on the Disney+ platform as FX is one of the televisions in Disney's extensive portfolio.
