On Friday, the American side reported the partial success of negotiations between Israel and Lebanon. The temporary truce is to be extended for another 1.5 months. This is intended to enable “further advances in the future.”
“The Department of State will resume political negotiations on June 2 and 3. In addition, on May 29, the security negotiation process will begin at the Pentagon with the participation of military delegations from both countries,” said Tommy Pigott, spokesman for the US Department of State.

A spokesman for the US Department of State added that Washington hopes that “discussions will contribute to lasting peace between the two countries, full recognition of mutual sovereignty and territorial integrity, and ensuring real security along their common border.”
