Every fourth Russian has changed his profession over the past two years

Over the past two years, 23% of economically active Russians have changed their profession. These are the results of a study by the SuperJob service.

According to analysts, most often people under 35 years old decided to take such a step. In this age group, 26% of respondents changed their profession. Among Russians over 45 years old, there were fewer of them, 20%.

Krasnoyarsk was among the cities where residents were less likely to change their field of work. Here, 17% of respondents changed their profession over the past two years. This is below the national average. For comparison, in Ufa, 20% of survey participants reported changing their profession.

Most of those who decided to make changes did not regret their choice. 15% of respondents were satisfied with the change of profession, 8% were dissatisfied. Most often, those who had the opportunity to develop, learn new things, and acquire other skills assessed the transition positively.

At the same time, income growth was not the main factor. It was named by 9% of respondents. Many respondents reported that after changing their profession they found their business. Among those who regretted switching to a new job, the main reason was a decrease in earnings. This was said by 31% of those dissatisfied. Another part of the respondents was faced with the fact that the new specialty was less in demand or the working conditions did not live up to expectations.

The survey was conducted from January 29 to April 23, 2026 among economically active Russians over 18 years of age with work experience.
