George Simion attacks PSD before the censure motion. The head of AUR accuses the former Coalition of “robbery of gigantic proportions”

The leader of AUR, George Simion, accused on Saturday evening the former coalition, of which PSD was also a part, the party with which he submitted the motion of censure against the Bolojan Government, of a “robbery of gigantic proportions” and a “financial cannon” given in the case of contracts from the SAFE Program.
“A financial cannon is being given to the Romanians these days, much bigger than the famous scandal of the 100 million doses of vaccine. Now we are talking about more than 10 billion euros borrowed by the Romanians to arm the country”, accused Simion in a video message on Facebook.
The President of the AUR complained that the money from the contracts for the endowment of the Romanian Army is not “injected where it should be”, referring to the Romanian arms industry, but is given, “mainly, to Germany and France”.
“The main beneficiary being a German company, Rheinmetall, which benefits from most of the armament contracts,” Simion pointed out.
“Why do we realize that it is a robbery of gigantic proportions? Well, no one wants to take responsibility. Ciolacu says he didn't sign, Bolojan says he didn't sign”, accusing a situation similar to the Pfizer agreement for the COVID-19 vaccines.
The PSD-PNL-USR-UDMR coalition “robbed Romania”
The leader of the largest opposition party in Romania claims that he asked in Parliament to see “the contract or contracts with Rheinmetall, where the main suspicions are”.
“Out of 15 contracts, all smell of corruption. They don't want to present us the contracts, just like they did in the case of Pfeizer. We will do everything in our power to find out the truth about this cannon and of course to stop it. This is what the PSD-PNL-UDMR-USR coalition did. It robbed Romania!”, accused Simion.
The AUR leader refused in the middle of this week, when the censure motion was submitted, to answer the journalists from the Parliament who repeatedly asked him if the PSD is still “a corrupt party”, as he called it several times in the past.
He asked his electorate in the video message if the party members should vote for the censure motion initiated with the PSD against the Bolojan cabinet.
“This economic model based on loans without pumping money that can bring us to the port and that can give us a breath of air in the Romanian armaments industry in well-paid jobs should not be accepted. The AUR solution is that these loan contracts are not accepted if at least 80% of the amounts are not introduced in the Romanian armaments industry”, said Geroge Simion.
Counter between Bolojan and Ciolacu
The SAFE program and its implementation method were the subject of a dispute between the current prime minister and former prime minister Marcel Ciolacu, according to News.ro.
Asked, on Friday, in a press conference in Suceava, who decided that five billion euros from the SAFE projects should go to a German company and only 800 million to a Romanian company, Prime Minister Ilie Bolojan answered that the question is “tendential” and “erroneous”, stating that the scheme for managing the program was established and voted on during the mandate of Marcel Ciolacu.
“The question is tendentious and erroneous. And I will make the necessary clarifications. During the mandate of Prime Minister Marcel Ciolacu, the management scheme of the SAFE program was established and voted on. And on that date, at the Prime Minister's proposal, the Prime Minister's Chancellery was designated as the integrator of SAFE management. First of all, it is a decision taken during the mandate of Prime Minister Ciolacu, which had to be respected, that certain things continue. This is to clarify things, yes? Because no one knew who was coming as prime minister, who was going to be chancellor, to ask them why they proposed this,” said Ilie Bolojan.
The PNL leader explained that what is purchased from SAFE is not decided by a specific person, but “the Romanian Army has endowment plans approved several years ago and which went through CSAT”. Bolojan added that one of the bases of the negotiation was that at least half of what Romania will purchase should be produced in Romania.
Later, former Prime Minister Marcel Ciolacu (PSD) claimed that, in fact, the Bolojan Cabinet made the SAFE Program management scheme, and the working group established by the signature of Prime Minister Ilie Bolojan is led, according to Ciolacu, by “a politruc from Oradea, put in charge of the Chancellery to manage a 16 billion euro military endowment program”.
“Bolojan is desperate because he will be dismissed in 4 days and shamelessly lies that “during the mandate of Prime Minister Marcel Ciolacu, the management scheme of the SAFE Program was established and voted on”. The official documents say completely DIFFERENT: The designation of the Chancellery of the Prime Minister as the integrator of the SAFE Program was made by GEO 62/2025, adopted on November 20, 2025 – under the Bolojan Government, NOT under the Government Ciolacu!” said Marcel Ciolacu.
