Avalanche in Bucegi. A group on skis, caught in the snow / Intervention with search dogs and helicopter

A group skiing off-piste in Valea Coștelei, in the Bucegi Massif, was caught by an avalanche on Saturday. At least one person was trapped under the snow, reports Salvamont Romania, quoted by Mediafiax.

Rescuers intervene to search for victims, the number of which is not yet known. It also intervenes with specialized dogs, and the operation is supported by a helicopter used to transport the teams to the field.

The intervention is ongoing.

Valea Costilei is one of the areas frequented by off-piste skiers, but snow conditions and the risk of avalanches can turn the trails into a major hazard.
