Liviu Ciobotariu (55 years old), coach free of contract from September 2025, after parting with Petrolul Ploiești, confirms that he was contacted regarding taking over the Bangladesh national team.
For now, the Romanian technician has not had direct discussions with the federation officials, but has only been contacted by an impresario from that country.
Liviu Ciobotariu confirms the interest from Bangladesh
The Bangladesh national team was left without a coach after the departure of Javier Cabrera, who had been in office for more than 4 years, from January 2022. The federation started the recruitment process of the next coach and urged interested coaches to send their CVs, and one belongs to Liviu Ciobotariu.
At the same time, the technician revealed that he was also approached from the Gulf region, but had to turn down the offers due to the armed conflict in recent months.
“I want to return to the bench as soon as possible. I had a few proposals from the Gulf area, but unfortunately, because of the conflict there, I had to refuse.
I am ready to return to the bench, ideally in the summer, to take over a team from the beginning of the season. You know me, I'm a quiet guy, I adapt anywhere. It depends on the character and nature of each one. It is very easy for me to adapt to a place.
It's true, I was contacted by an impresario there and asked about the Bangladesh national team. If I am available to go there. Further, I don't know more information either, I'm waiting somehow“, declared Liviu Ciobotariu, according to digisport.ro.

He also had a mandate as a selector in Asia, but in the west of the continent, at the national team of Lebanon, during 2019-2020. He left a good impression there, qualifying the team for the third round of the 2022 World Cup qualifiers.
Since then, Liviu Ciobotariu has coached only in Romania, at Hermannstadt, Voluntari, Sepsi, FC Botoșani and Petrolul Ploiești.
