In a popular holiday destination in the suburbs of Krasnoyarsk – On the Esaulovskaya loop near the village of Barkhatovo, Sosnovoborsky district, a strong forest fire occurred.
According to eyewitnesses, the fire broke out because of a group of tourists – one of them launched several flares.
As reported at the Forest Fire Center, inThe fire was discovered on May 1 at 16:50 on an area of 3.5 hectares; the fire was spreading on a steep rocky slope with rock outcrops. 30 employees immediately rushed to the scene and began extinguishing the fire. It was made difficult by the difficult terrain – this is a mountainous area. Because of this, it was impossible to get to the source of the fire by car; forest firefighters climbed more than a kilometer with all their equipment on foot.
As reported on social networks, the fire was started by the guide of the tourist group. Presumably, the young man approached the edge of the observation deck andlaunched two signal flares. Other vacationers tried to stop him, but to no avail. When the slope began to burn, the group quickly left the site. Other people also had to quickly leave due to the rapidly spreading fire.
A police investigative team arrived at the scene. According to preliminary data, nNo people were injured, there is no threat to populated areas.
According to the Forest Fire Center, by the morning of May 2 the forest fire was localized to an area of 17 hectares:
“The spread of the fire has been stopped. 16 people are working on site; two units of equipment are used to deliver forces and equipment. Specialists guard the fire: treat the edge with water from backpack forest fire extinguishers and dig in with shovels. The situation is complicated by the complex terrain with high rocky slopes. Preliminarily, the cause of the fire was a violation of fire safety regulations. The identity of the arsonist has been established, and the police are now deciding on the classification of the offense. The amount of damage to the forest fund is also calculated.”
In total, over the past 24 hours in the Krasnoyarsk Territory, 5 forest fires were extinguished on an area of 45.7 hectares, which were active in the Ilansky, Kansky, Tinsky, Magansky, Sayano-Shushenskoye forest districts. According to preliminary data, the fires occurred due to careless handling of fire and due to transfer from lands of other categories.
Also in the region on May 1, 30 fires of dry grass and garbage were extinguished, the Ministry of Emergency Situations reported.
Due to the establishment of dry and hot weather, residents are asked to be as attentive and careful as possible when visiting forests and when handling fire. Burning dry grass is strictly prohibited – violators of fire safety requirements face both administrative and criminal liability. Owners of land plots bordering the forest are urged to ensure fire safety by clearing a strip of at least 10 meters wide from the forest, or separating the area with a mineralized strip or fire barrier.
