After the supervisory board of Poczta Polska unexpectedly dismissed the president of the management board, Sebastian Mikosz, at the end of March after two years of managing the state-owned company, a competition was announced to elect a new management board. The deadline for submitting offers was April 30, and applications are scheduled to open on May 7. As determined by wnp.pl, there are several candidates. The current acting president, Sławomir Żurawski, and an expert in the field of artificial intelligence and new technologies, Marcin Ledworowski, are to apply for the position of president.

Almost at the last minute, Magdalena Gaj was to join the group of volunteers – currently the president of Exatel, who also sits on the supervisory board of Poczta Polska. According to wnp.pl sources, she is the favorite in this competition, although she refused to comment to the portal in a telephone conversation.

Who is Magdalena Gaj? She is a trained lawyer who has previously held important positions in state administration. After several years of work at the Office of Telecommunications Regulation, later transformed into the Office of Telecommunications and Post Regulation, and later into the Office of Electronic Communications, in 2009 she was appointed Undersecretary of State at the Ministry of Infrastructure. After its transformation in November 2011, she took up the same position in the Ministry of Administration and Digitization.
In the years 2012-2016, she served as the president of the Office of Electronic Communications. Later, in February 2017, she became a partner of the MMI Proconnect Law and Advisory Firm. In 2024, she became a member of the supervisory board of Poczta Polska, which means that she knows the realities of the company's operation “from the inside”.

Since April 2025, Magdalena Gaj has been the president of the management board of Exatel, responsible for the strategic development of the company, security services, critical communications and modern network technologies.
The current president of Poczta Polska, Sebastian Mikosz, who was dismissed in March, was surprised by the decision of the supervisory board. Especially since it was during his time that the state-owned company emerged from serious financial difficulties. Mikosz held his position for two years. He allegedly learned about the dismissal on his way back from Wrocław, where a meeting of the company's management was taking place.
On April 22, Poczta Polska announced the initiation of qualification proceedings for the positions of president and four vice-presidents of the management board. The offers will be opened and the candidates will be initially assessed on May 7. Qualification interviews will last until May 14, the company announces.
