Against the backdrop of Ukrainian attacks on Russian petroleum products processing facilities, production volumes fell to their lowest level in 16 years, writes Bloomberg.
According to the agency, Russian oil refining suffered at least nine hits in April, the highest monthly level since the beginning of the year.
This led to a decrease in oil refining in the Russian Federation to 4.69 million barrels per day, which is the lowest level since December 2009.
The agency noted that the decrease in oil refining volumes puts additional pressure on both the domestic market (against the backdrop of growing seasonal demand) and the global market, since Russia is a key exporter of diesel fuel.
In addition, the fall in oil refining volumes limits Russia’s oil production capabilities, which for several months have already remained significantly below the quota set by OPEC+.
