In Ukraine, the blueberry season has begun. Prices were twice as high in last year, and now they are rapidly falling

Experts report that the start of this season was delayed for about 10 days compared to last year due to abnormal weather conditions at the end of spring, but at the same time, vacation prices for these berries remain higher than last period last year.

“Today, the offer of local blueberries on the market is very limited. At the same time, the demand for this berry is evaluated at a fairly high level,” the report said.

It is noted that massively blueberries from Ukrainian farms will begin to go on sale next week.

As added on the Eastfruit website, the berry is cheaper than mainly of low and medium quality, while the price of premium -quality blueberries is kept at a relatively high level.

According to data from the main wholesale markets of Ukraine, on July 1, the prices for small -optical parties of the blue were as follows:

  • Shuvar market (Lviv): 300-450 UAH/kg, or 6,12-9.18 €/kg;
  • Market “Capital” (Kyiv): 300–350 UAH/kg (6.12–7.14 €/kg);
  • Market “Superior” (Odessa region): 400-450 UAH/kg (8,16-9.18 €/kg).

Compared to the prices of the end of June 2025, the decrease is significant, an average of 20–25%:

  • In Kyiv, the price decreased from 450-500 UAH/kg (9,22-10.25 €/kg) to 300-350 UAH/kg (6,12-7.14 €/kg), or by 28-30%;
  • In Lviv, the range changed from 380-450 UAH/kg (7.79-9.22 €/kg) to 300-450 UAH/kg (6,12-9.18 €/kg), that is, the minimum price fell by 21%;
  • In Odessa, the maximum price remained unchanged (450 UAH/kg), but the minimum sank from 480 UAH/kg (9.84 €/kg) to 400 UAH/kg (8.16 €/kg), that is, the minimum price decreased by 17% in the hryvnia.

At the same time, despite the gradual decrease in prices in this segment, the cost of blueberries in the domestic market of Ukraine remains on average 2.6 times higher than at the beginning of the 2024 season. Manufacturers explain such a price difference by reducing the gross harvesting of blueberries in the country due to adverse weather conditions during the ripening of this berry.

Analysts believe that blueberries will be rapidly cheaper in order to achieve a competitive level for the EU market. After all, Ukraine is one of the large exporters of fresh blueberries in the European Union markets.
