The German goalkeeper has no plans to retire and wants to extend his contract with Bayern until 2027. The veteran spoke about his plans in an interview with Bild and Sky Deutschland.
Manuel Neuer wants to continue at Bayern Munich next season
His agent, Thomas Kroth, was at the headquarters of the Bavarian club on Thursday for discussions with the management regarding the goalkeeper's future, according to the DPA agency.
Neuer has reached an agreement in principle with Bayern. He would remain the starter next season as well, while the club will give more minutes to Jonas Urbig (22), seen as his successor.
The 2014 world champion would still have to clarify the financial details of the new contract with club officials.
Neuer also hinted that the trend is towards an extension, after qualifying for the Cup final: “I won't announce anything at the moment – but things are looking good now“.
Manuel Neuer has been with Bayern since 2011, when he was transferred from Schalke 04. During this time, he has won 13 Bundesliga titles and two Champions League trophies.
He has played 35 games this season for Vincent Kompany's side, conceding 38 goals. He kept a clean sheet in 11 matches. He is quoted by the specialized website Transfermarkt at 4 million euros.
Jonas Urbig played 16 matches, scored 18 goals and kept 5 clean sheets. It is valued at 15 million euros.

In 2027, when the next contract expires, the German goalkeeper will be 41 years old and equal the legendary goalkeeper of Italy, Dino Zoff, who was exactly this age when he decided to hang up his gloves.
