The German power plant will go to Ukraine. “As part of the help”

The power plant in Lubmin (Western Pomerania-Greifswald district) produced electricity until 2022 to heat gas supplied from Russia via the Nord Stream gas pipelines. Currently it remains unused.
A spokesman for Sefe Energy GmbH, the company responsible for the action, announced that all attempts to sell the power plant had failed. “Now it is to be transferred to the Ukrainian power plant operator as part of humanitarian aid and contribute to the maintenance of Ukrainian energy infrastructure,” writes the NDR website.
Possible protests?
The Ukrainian company will have to organize the dismantling and acceptance of the power plant. The work is expected to be completed by summer. However, the mayor of Lubmin, Axel Vogt, fears that the transfer of the power plant may be used politically. He does not rule out that protests may break out.

“The mayor is also concerned that the port will have to bear additional security costs, which he believes should be borne by the companies involved,” NDR reports.
