An alliance between the United States and Ukraine is the shortest path to creating the strongest forces in the world. Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky stated this in an interview with Newsmax.
He commented on the words of American Vice President J.D. Vance that he was proud of stopping military aid to Ukraine to defend against Russian aggression.
“We need to strengthen each other, and not look for ways to stop support or not stop it. Huge investments from the United States and Europeans at the very beginning of the war helped us grow technologically and become today one of the strongest armies in the world – technologically the strongest. So I disagree with the vice president. We are open, and we are not enemies. The enemies are the Russian Federation, they are nearby, and they will always be enemies of the United States,” he said.
In his opinion, if the vice president is proud that he does not help Kyiv, this means that he is helping the Russians.
“And I’m not sure that this strengthens the United States, no. Having Russians as friends – I’m not sure that this is a strong position… Maybe the vice president wanted to say that this would bring peace closer if the United States does not help us with weapons. But with Russia it does not work. Russia does not respect weakness. And if no one helps us, we will, of course, find ourselves in a weaker position,” he concluded.
