Jastrzębska Spółka Węglowa is in the red again. Restructuring is getting closer

Jastrzębska Spółka Węglowa estimates that in 2025 it had a consolidated net loss of PLN 6.255 billionand EBITDA – i.e. operating result plus depreciation – amounted to PLN 4.989 billion below the mark.
For comparison, in 2024, JSW's net loss amounted to PLN 7.3 billion with an impairment loss on non-financial fixed assets in the total amount of PLN 6.4 billion. The EBITDA result was also clearly negative at that time and amounted to PLN 6.5 billion. JSW's core business was unprofitable in 2024 – the group recorded a loss on sales of almost PLN 760 million with revenues of PLN 11.33 billion.
The estimates published on Tuesday indicate that in 2025 the company had PLN 9.41 billion in revenues and PLN 2.21 billion in gross sales losses.
Moreover, it was indicated that in 2025, total coal production amounted to 13 million tons, coking coal production reached 11 million tons, coal production for energy purposes amounted to 2 million tons, and total coke production – 3.15 million tons.

JSW stipulated that the results presented are estimates obtained during the preparation of the consolidated financial statements for 2025 and may be subject to change.
The final financial results for 2025 will be presented in detail in the JSW Group's consolidated report for 2025, scheduled for publication on April 30. Initially, JSW declared the publication of the annual report for 2025 on March 26 this year, but on March 11 this date was postponed to April 28 this year.

Minister of State Assets Wojciech Balczun plans talks with the management board and supervisory board of JSW regarding the restructuring of the group. As he informed, JSW has accelerated work on obtaining commercial financing on international markets and potentially USD 1.5 billion is available, which should stabilize the situation permanently.
