Goldman Sachs CEO letter for interns. Valuable advice on work

From 2019, David Solomon, president of Goldman Sachs, greets new interns with a letter containing a set of professional tips every year. Tradition has also been done now. “The only constant is change” – he emphasized. He also pointed to the importance of concentration and focus on current tasks in “an extremely dynamic environment”.

In previous years – in 2024 and 2023 – there were five golden rules in the lists of interns, including “Take your time” and “Never underestimate the strength of the team”which reflects the work culture based on cooperation, which is cultivated by the bank.

This year's group has about 2,600 participants around the world and the internship ten weeks. This is slightly less than a year ago, when the admission indicator for internship reached a record low level.

Internship in the Global Banking & Markets section – including Investment banking and securities trade – began on June 2. In turn, the trainees of the Asset & Wealth Management department joined the team on June 9.

David Solomon's letter for interns in Goldman Sachs

Welcome to Goldman Sachs. Every year, I look forward to starting an internship program. Each new group brings a fresh look and new energy to our offices around the world. In the coming weeks you will have the opportunity to cooperate with our unique teams, serving customers and learning about the industry directly from people with extensive experience at the World Finance Center.

I have been associated with the company for over 25 years and I can say one thing: The only permanent is a change, That is why it is so important to remain focused on the needs of customers in this dynamic environment.

On this occasion, I would like to share some tips that will help you best use the time spent in our company:

  • Act on purpose. Participate in team meetings. Share your ideas. Treat every day as an opportunity to meet the company, our business and people around you.
  • Ask and listen, both skills are equally important. You will quickly find out that our people want to know your opinions. I encourage you to curiosity, ask questions, but also to listen carefully and absorb various points of view.
  • Cook up. It is good to work hard individually, but even better to achieve results as a team. We focus on the culture “we” in Goldman Sachs.
  • Choose perfection. Do not be content with average, strive for the best quality of your work.
  • Keep the pace. This is just the beginning of a long road. Don't forget to enjoy this journey.

We will enjoy it with you this summer and we are looking forward to your contribution. Welcome to Goldman Sachs.

David
