The document that disappears after the renewal of the bulletin. Oana Gheorghiu's announcement

A change in the procedure for renewing identity documents was announced by Deputy Prime Minister Oana Gheorghiu, following reports received from citizens.

The measure aims to remove the birth certificate from the renewal file, after its request was reported as the main problem on the “Paperless” platform.

“We have already given the order for the officials from the Personal Records to interrogate the database to check the civil status information”, Oana Gheorghiu told Digi24.ro. She added that “the state has this data, it is absurd to ask citizens for it in paper form every time they interact with the administration.”

The objective is for no authority to request documents that can be verified electronically, says the deputy prime minister.

“The next step is the elimination of the obligation to present proof of home address, in cases where the information is already stored in the state's databases,” Oana Gheorghiu said.

The change was accelerated by the high volume of complaints registered on the government's “Paperless” platform, where more than 1,000 complaints were filed in the first 24 hours after its launch. Most of the complaints concerned precisely the need to bring xerox copies of civil status documents that the state institutions already have on file.

The situation was also reported by HotNews, which recently wrote about citizens' dissatisfaction with the “obsessive” request for these documents, given that the information is already stored in official databases.

“It is a measure of common sense and an obligation of the official to make this effort to interrogate the system, not of the citizen who files,” the deputy prime minister emphasized. The measure is immediately applied at the level of the registration services of people throughout the country.
