Łukasz Litewka, a 36-year-old Left MP from Sosnowiec, died tragically on Thursday afternoon while riding a bicycle. He was hit by a car on the street. Kazimierzowska in Dąbrowa Górnicza. The spokesman for the District Prosecutor's Office in Sosnowiec, prosecutor Bartosz Kilian, told “Fakt” that investigators secured a phone belonging to the 57-year-old driver. It was from this equipment that the emergency services were notified about the accident. — The report was made by a witness who arrived at the scene. According to his account, the suspect was unable to use the phone effectively, the prosecutor explained.

When asked whether the use of the phone by the driver at a critical moment was being investigated, the prosecutor confirmed: — The device is being subjected to detailed examination to determine whether it was used at the time of the accident. Everything has been secured, there is no risk of data loss, he said.

Driver's explanation unclear

The representative of the prosecutor's office also emphasized that all possible scenarios are being analyzed, including those that the driver did not mention during his explanation, in particular regarding the use of the telephone.

The 57-year-old man who was driving the car admitted to causing the accident both during interrogation at the police station and in the prosecutor's office. He provided extensive explanations.

— It balances between loss of consciousness, momentary distraction and possible lack of memory of the event. However, the materials we have show that these statements can only constitute a line of defense, said prosecutor Kilian on Friday.

The search for witnesses is ongoing

The spokesman also said that the officers have already interviewed many people, including family members of the suspect and his associates. Investigators are trying to reconstruct the course of the driver's last days, asking, among other things, about his health condition. People who appeared at the scene of the accident were also interviewed. The prosecutor's office maintains contact with Łukasz Litewka's relatives. So far, no witness has come forward to see the incident, which is why the appeal to contact the police was renewed on Friday.
