The government services portal now offers the opportunity to protect your personal account from fraudsters

Russians were told how to protect their account on the government services portal from scammers.

The press service of the Ministry of Digital Development of the Russian Federation reports that a new function has appeared on the portal – select a trusted contact. This could be a relative or close friend. He will not have access to your personal account and will not be able to perform actions on your behalf, but he will receive an additional confirmation code if you decide to change your password.

You can enable this check in the “Security” section of your personal account. There you need to enable the “Trusted Contact” option. The name is indicated as in the passport, but without the surname and patronymic. You also need the contact's phone number, also linked to the government services portal. This is where you will receive SMS messages with a code.

After this, the person needs to send an invitation. It will come to his personal account, where he can accept it. Then information about the trusted contact will appear in your personal account.

Now, when access to your account is restored, the SMS code will be sent to him first.
