The commander of the 14th Mechanized Brigade was removed from his post after a scandal with the military, who remained in positions without food.
Yesterday, photos of exhausted soldiers who did not have adequate food and water supplies while in positions across the Oskol River in the Kupyansk direction appeared on social networks.
At the same time, the General Staff reported that the commander of the 10th Army Corps was also removed from his post.
This did not happen after this scandal, but a few weeks earlier.
In the conditions of modern warfare, when logistics are extremely difficult and often the delivery of ammunition and provisions is carried out exclusively by drones, the military at the forefront does not conduct reconnaissance and surveillance, and has limited capabilities for inflicting fire damage, the concept of using infantry should be reconsidered.
Quite often people stay in positions for a long time without any real need.
Modern warfare requires new approaches, and the faster the military command accepts them, the more people we will save. The more enemy we will destroy.
In the statement of the General Staff there is no information about the commander of the 2nd mechanized battalion of the 30th mechanized brigade, to whom the exhausted soldiers of the 14th mechanized brigade were assigned.
But in reality everything is much more complicated.
The 30th Mechanized Infantry Brigade itself is fighting in the Donetsk region.
But its 2nd battalion is assigned to the 14th Mechanized Infantry Brigade in the Kupyansk direction.
At the same time, soldiers from the 14th Mechanized Infantry Brigade were assigned to the 2nd Mechanized Battalion of the 30th Mechanized Infantry Brigade, which is assigned to the 14th Mechanized Infantry Brigade. That is, military brigades were attached to a battalion of another brigade, which itself is attached to this brigade.
The practice of fighting with attached forces is widespread and contributes to the careless attitude towards people. After all, a commander who fights with people “not his own” is not responsible for them, is not obliged to provide for them, and treats such people completely differently.
Not always, but very often.
Now almost every brigade is not fighting at full strength. In almost all formations, individual battalions or companies are transferred to other formations.
I know an example from practice when a battalion was taken from a brigade and transferred to another brigade. And it no longer had enough people to carry out tasks, so a battalion from another was assigned to this brigade instead of returning its own.
