The multi-billionaire Ion Țiriac, 86 years old, met with the mayor of Brașov to finalize the details of the project he is looking to develop together with the local authorities, a multidisciplinary sports complex, with halls and fields for several sports.

From Brașov, Ion Țiriac wants to build in his hometown. In this regard, he started discussions with the City Hall for the construction of a multidisciplinary sports complex, which would include an ice rink, a judo and fencing room, tennis courts, an athletics track and a mini-football field.

On Thursday, the businessman appeared at Brașov City Hall, where discussed with the local mayor about the location on which the sports base will be built. It was a preliminary discussion, with the location to be determined next weekfollowing a meeting of the technical teams of the two sides.

We remind you that in May, Ion Țiriac and Brașov City Hall undertook the construction of this sports complex in partnership. The partnership assumes that the City Hall provides the land and infrastructure, and the actual construction and related costs are covered by the Ion Țiriac Foundation.

Ion Țiriac, dialogue with the mayor of Brașov about the location of the future sports complex in the city

During next week's meeting, the City Hall claims that “the stages of the realization of this sports complex will be established, which will be the sports disciplines that will benefit from the necessary infrastructure, as well as the way of collaboration between the two partners”.

Meanwhile, Ion Țiriac made a donation, in the form of complete equipment, for the children from the hockey section of the Corona Brașov club. The value of this sponsorship, according to the City Hall, is 90,000 euros.

“We ended up identifying solutions regarding a location, which would be our participation in this partnership for sports infrastructure – hockey, judo, fencing and other sports. Mr. Țiriac comes with proposals to create a sports infrastructure for children, we come with our participation quota, with the location and infrastructure for that investment.

Next week we will have another meeting, with the designers, with the specialists, with the technicians, in such a way that we can take another step in this regard, to be able to develop the partnership that we want to make with the Ion Țiriac Foundation. We have several location options that we have made available.

I think next week we will reach a conclusion and we will have a solution for indoor sports activities – hockey, judo, fencing, but also outdoors, and the area will be able to provide other leisure activities for children, but also for adults,” said George Scripcaru, the mayor of Brașov.
