Countries around the world are introducing restrictions on children's access to social media platforms

In December 2025, restrictions on access to social networking sites began to apply in Australia for children under 16 years of age. Companies in the industry then blocked access to approximately 4.7 million accounts belonging to minors.

And last month, Indonesia began implementing a new government regulation banning children under 16 from accessing platforms that could expose them to pornography, cyberbullying, online fraud and addiction.

Other countries, such as Spain, France and the United Kingdom, are also taking or considering introducing measures to limit children's access to social networking sites.
