New changes to sick leave. The first day will be paid for certain categories of patients

The first day of sick leave will be paid for certain categories of patients, the Minister of Health, Alexandru Rogobete, announced on Wednesday.
The Chamber of Deputies adopted, on Wednesday, as a decision-making body, the draft law regarding the exemption of certain categories of patients from the provisions regarding the non-payment of the first day of medical leave.
“Today the exceptions proposed by the Ministry of Health and which were introduced by parliamentary colleagues were voted in the Plenary of the Chamber of Deputies: the first day of medical leave will be paid where the need for protection is even greater: chronic patients, patients included in the national health programs, patients who benefit from day hospitalization, medical-surgical emergencies”, wrote the Minister of Health, in a message on Facebook.
The exemptions bill was previously passed by the Senate. Thus, the law will go to promulgation, if it will not be challenged at the CCR.
The decision that the first day of sick leave will no longer be paid for employees in Romania was adopted in the last Government meeting last year, on December 30, through an Emergency Ordinance. The measure entered into force in February.
