Robot wins the Beijing half marathon. Machines faster than people

The winning robot covered the route in almost 2 hours. faster than the mechanical winner from last year, but the real sensation is the fact that for the first time a robot turned out to be faster than people, proving that real strength lies in metal, not in character.

It was a good time for humans, but everything has an end: According to information provided by the Beijing Economic and Technological Development Zone, which organized the half marathon, a bipedal robot named Lightning finished the race in 50 minutes and 26 seconds, breaking the human world record of 57 minutes and 20 seconds set just a month ago by Jacob Kiplimo from Uganda.

Many of the robots taking part in the event were controlled remotely, but the winning Lightning, created by Chinese smartphone manufacturer Honor, completed the route entirely on its own.

Over the past year, China has organized several humanoid robot sports competitions, highlighting how much has been achieved since robotics was recognized as a key direction in the country's technological development in 2015.
