Sorin Grindeanu: “The censure motion is not the first option we would like” / What he says about a prime minister appointed by the PSD

PSD President Sorin Grindeanu stated, on Digi24, that he expects Nicușor Dan to convene consultations with the parties, at the end of which the social democrats will establish their next steps, the only condition the party cannot give up being the removal of Ilie Bolojan from the head of the Government.
“For us, it's simple: an overwhelming vote was given in the PSD to withdraw political support for Ilie Bolojan. This means that he will no longer have PSD votes (…) Following the consultations in Cotroceni, each party will call out how it sees the solution. We want to have a pro-Western coalition, but without Ilie Bolojan as prime minister or PSD, it goes into opposition”, declared Sorin Grindeanu.
Asked if it is possible for the PSD to come up with a proposal for prime minister at the consultations in Cotroceni, Grindeanu appeared reserved, but did not rule out the possibility that the PSD would take over the leadership of the Government.
“I think that at the first consultation it is not necessary to do something like that, but I don't think it is necessary to be passive when a pro-Western coalition solution is released. I don't see the discussions going in this direction. We have a protocol that now seems to be just a piece of paper, but if we talk about its principles, things are very clear related to who and what they occupy within this coalition”, commented Grindeanu.
Even if a consensus would not be reached through the mediation of president Nicușor Dan, the PSD leader believes that the discussions in Cotroceni will have to be resumed if the Bolojan government, without the social-democratic ministers, does not obtain the confidence vote of the Parliament.
Also, Grindeanu said that a censure motion is also taken into account within the 45 interim days that the Bolojan cabinet has at its disposal. “The censure motion is an option. It's not the first one we would like, but we don't rule it out,” explained the leader of the social democrats.
Grindeanu also said that keeping Ilie Bolojan at the helm of the Government will automatically lead to PSD entering the opposition
“If we are made in all ways, why should we stay? Today the Government is non-functional, with or without Ilie Bolojan. Then you have to find a solution to move on”, said Sorin Grindeanu.
