According to IRNA, Tehran's decision is justified by what the Iranian authorities consider to be exaggerated claims by the United States of America

“Iran's absence from the second round of negotiations is due to the fact that the country believes that Washington has exaggerated claims, unrealistic expectations, constant changes of position, repeated contradictions, as well as the maritime blockade currently in force, which it considers a violation of the truce.” broadcast the Iranian agency on platform X.

IRNA did not indicate a clear source for these claims, stating only the official position of Tehran in relation to the negotiation process, Agerpres emphasizes.

Iran's decision comes as the United States announced new diplomatic efforts to resume dialogue, and President Donald Trump confirmed that he would send a delegation to Pakistan on Monday, April 20, to try to resume peace talks with Iran, just days before the ceasefire expires.

The US delegation includes Vice President JD Vance, who has already led a previous round of negotiations in Islamabad, but without any results, accompanying presidential advisers Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner.

In a message published on the Truth Social platform, Donald Trump stated that the United States proposed to Iran a “reasonable agreement”warning at the same time that, in the event of a refusal, “The United States will destroy all power plants and bridges in Iran”.
