Oana Pellea, message to the Obor terrace, after a poster with Nea Marin: “What country is this? Make up your own mind!” / Reply given by the local manager

“Under the pretext of 'homage', you are advertising with the image of a man who worked a lifetime to build a career!”, complained the actress Oana Pellea, on Friday, after seeing that the image of her father, Amza Pellea, in the role of “Nea Marin” is being used by Terasa Obor in Bucharest, a local known for its children. The restaurant later announced that the poster had been removed.

In her Facebook message, the actress wrote: “As long as I live… NOBODY will take advantage or tarnish my father's image. PERIOD. Make up your mind!”.

Oana Pellea also says that over time she received several offers for advertisements in which the image of her father, the actor Amza Pellea, would appear, but she refused.

“They wanted to give me money, to sell his image for mustard, for ads on te miri ce, they used his image in political campaigns, they steal his voice for ads, they steal his copyright for decades… I always opposed and fought for my father's image… but I didn't expect that it would also be used to sell children…”.

She made it clear that she does not want money, but wants her father's memory to be respected. “Is it that hard to understand?”.

“Terasa Obor, it's a pity that you take advantage of the image of an artist-symbol of Romania to sell your goods! Do you want to pay him a tribute? Sponsor from your turnover of millions, a THEATER, a young artist, a home for the elderly, a hospital…”, continued Oana Pellea. She specified that the same terrace uses the images of other big names, such as Gheorghe Hagi and Nadia Comăneci.

The actress says that the representatives of the terrace replied that the use of the image of Amza Pellea was “a tribute”. Later, in a comment on the post, they said that the banner with the actor's image had been taken down.

“What country is this… where a national symbol artist is used to sell small items? Terasa Obor, it's a shame that you take advantage of the image of a symbol artist of Romania to sell your goods! Do you want to pay him a tribute? Sponsor a THEATER, a young artist, a home for the elderly, a hospital from your turnover of millions…”, she also wrote.

“Nea Marin, a national asset”

Adrian Rebenciuc, one of the leaders of Dinamo's gallery, is the manager of Terasa Obor. Contacted by HotNews to comment on the accusations brought by Oana Pellea, he says that he did not use the image of Amza Pellea “on a natural person”.

“We did a beautiful thing. The world asked us… do you only have foreigners? And we thought of Nea Marin, a local character. We didn't put the natural person,” he said.

Amza Pellea played the legendary character Nea Marin in the comedy film “Nea Mărin Billionaire”, released in 1979 and directed by Sergiu Nicolaescu.

Asked why he used the image with Amza Pellea without his daughter's consent, Rebenciuc said that as soon as he saw Oana Pellea's post, he took down the banner.

“I thought the reaction was out of place. We thought about local personalities, who were suitable. Nea Marin is local. She is a national asset! I didn't want to upset Mrs. Oana Pellea”, said Adrian Rebenciuc.

“I apologized. May she be healthy. I took him down when he told me,” added the manager of Terasei Obor, stating that he did not want a scandal.

The company Terasa Obor SRL, founded in 2018 with headquarters in Piața Obor, is managed by Adrian Rebenciuc and reported for 2023 a turnover of 8.1 million lei, generating a net profit of 1.3 million lei and being recommended by international publications such as The New York Times, according to Profit.ro.
