National Bank of Poland on gold reserves. President Adam Glapiński reassures us

The visit was intended to confirm the security, completeness and storage of one of the key elements of the state's official reserve assets.
— I have personally verified the way in which part of our national reserves are stored. I confirmed that Polish gold resources are safe, complete and properly stored – emphasized the President of the NBP.

The highest international standards
He added that the bars are marked in accordance with the highest international standards, have unique numbers, refiner's marks and fineness markings, and the reliability of their storage is guaranteed by the American Federal Reserve. According to Glapiński, in the current geopolitical reality, diversification of places where gold reserves are stored is an obvious solution.
The inspection of the Fed's treasury took place after the participation of the NBP president in the meeting of finance ministers and central bank governors of the G20 countries, which took place on April 16 in Washington as part of the spring meetings of the International Monetary Fund and the World Bank Group, NBP reported.
Energy and demography
During one of the sessions devoted to barriers to economic growth, President Glapiński pointed to two key challenges facing Poland: high energy prices and unfavorable demographic trends. He pointed out that energy costs in Poland are among the highest in Europe, and at the same time the structure of the national energy mix, based largely on coal, makes it particularly sensitive to the effects of the EU's climate policy.
— No country will achieve high growth without free access to energy at moderate prices – noted the president of the NBP. In this context, he recalled that Poland is building nuclear energy potential, which in the longer term – estimated at 10-15 years – should contribute to reducing energy costs and improving the competitiveness of the economy.
During the session on global imbalances, Adam Glapiński argued that the Polish economy is currently in a state of internal and external balance. As he explained, the key role here is played by the high competitiveness of exports and its wide diversification.
Services account for a quarter of exports
— We export not only cars, but also a wide range of consumer goods, from food to furniture and household appliances. About 25 percent Polish exports today consist of services, said the president of the NBP. JIn its opinion, this structure allows for more effective absorption of sector shocks, including the problems currently faced by the European automotive industry.
Narodowy Bank Polski also recalled that in December 2025, the United States – then holding the presidency of the G20 – invited Poland to participate in the group as a full member. Representatives of the National Bank of Poland and the Ministry of Finance take part in work on economic and financial issues.
