An advisor to the Ukrainian Minister of Defense cruelly mocks the helplessness of the Russians

— This year will be very difficult for Russia, says Serhiy Sternenko, adviser to the new Minister of Defense of Ukraine, Mykhailo Fedorov.

Compared to Russia, Ukraine has already established itself “significant technological advantage” – says Sternenko, whom the journalist of the “Die Welt” newspaper, which, like Onet, belongs to the Axel Springer Global Reporters Network, met in his office in the capital of Ukraine.

— We have created technological innovations that are a secret for now, but you will hear about them soon, Sternenko also promised. The drone expert then talked about Ukrainian long-range drones, capable of destroying targets located approximately 1,000 km away based on video signals.

“The Kremlin fears instability within the country”

The advisor to the Minister of Defense, who is only 31 years old, is convinced that 2026 may become a “turning point” — both on the front and in the air, as well as in terms of the political situation inside Russia.

“We could lead to the economic collapse of Russia,” Sternenko said, attributing it to Ukraine's “systemic strategy.” According to him, tightening censorship in Russia, disruptions to mobile internet and blocking Telegram are “signals that the Kremlin is afraid of instability within the country.”

Ukraine goes on the offensive. They will be used in combat on the front in the near future many more medium-range drones than in recent months. — So far, attacks have been only sporadic, says Sternenko. The newly developed systems with a range of 50 to 150 km will significantly expand the existing destruction zone with a radius of 15 km.

“Russian industry is unable to replenish missile stocks on time”

At the same time, attacks on Russian radars and air defense systems continue in the occupied territories, as well as on the territory of Russia itself. In this way, Ukraine is paving the way for the implementation the so-called deep strikes, i.e. attacks far behind the front line.

“We can do whatever we want in Russia now,” says Sternenko. —Russia is even running out of interceptor missiles.

These words are also confirmed by the report of the Royal United Services Institute for Defense Research (RUSI): “The Russian industry is unable to replenish its stocks of missiles for air defense systems on time,” we read in the analysis.
