Russia welcomed Elon Musk's father. A new science center is planned

In September 2025, The New York Times reported that Errol Musk had been investigated three times for sexual abuse of children — including his own, his stepdaughter and his stepson. This information was widely reproduced by the Russian media. Two proceedings were discontinued, the fate of the third remains unknown. Musk senior himself called the allegations “absolute nonsense.”
Before participating in the program, Errol Musk attended an Easter service at the Cathedral of Christ the Savior in Moscow, where he sat in a corner while all the worshipers stood. He was accompanied by the organizer and guardian – member of the council of experts of the Russian industrialists' association, Svetlana Goreva, 2nd Runner-up of Miss International in the 2000 edition of the beauty contest.
Earlier, during a two-week tour of Russian regions, Errol Musk visited Kazan. At the capital forum, he announced plans to open a scientific center in Russia devoted to research on gravity, thermonuclear fusion and “work with space-time.” When asked about the location of the center, he explained that he had originally considered the Middle East and Europe, but after his first visit to Moscow in 2025, he decided on Russia. In Kazan, Musk also visited a local industrial park and compared it to Silicon Valley.
In Nizhny Novgorod, Musk senior laid flowers at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier. At the press conference, he said that he had tried vodka, assessed its strength and now knew a few Russian words: “goodbye”, “thank you”, “yes”, “no”, “bless you”. As a souvenir, he received vinyl records with Wysocki's songs.
Earlier, Musk visited the Vladimir region, where the governor received him together with a delegation of South African entrepreneurs at a local agritourism farm, which has been managed by British immigrant John Kopiski for 35 years. There, they discussed the possible settlement of 50 families of Dutch origin in South Africa.
