The Krasnoyarsk Rosselkhoznadzor checked the import of African pygmy hedgehogs from Thailand, the department’s press service reported.
The hedgehogs arrived in Krasnoyarsk by plane from the Pathum Thani province of the Kingdom of Thailand. 300 of these animals were purchased by a local individual entrepreneur.
“Decorative animals were transported in compliance with the veterinary and sanitary requirements of the Russian Federation and the Customs Union», — the press service said.
Now African long-eared pygmy hedgehogs are placed in a specially prepared room for quarantine. During this period, they will be monitored by specialists from the Office and the Veterinary Supervision Service of the Krasnoyarsk Territory. The animals will undergo all necessary diagnostic tests and preventive measures.
