He reminded that Polish airports are planning to start construction works in 2026, and the total commissioning of the investment for use – for the summer season of 2029. After the expansion, the port's capacity is to be about 30 million travelers a year. “The schedule is very ambitious, but at the moment underestimated,” said Lasek.
At the end of last year, PPL presented a schedule for the modernization of the Chopin Airport. As reported then, the cost of modernization was estimated at PLN 1.6 billion, including 40 percent. from the financial reserve. Design works were to last until 2026, construction works were scheduled for 2026–2028, while the opening of the modernized infrastructure is planned for 2029.
As reported then, as part of modernization from 62 to 83, the number of parking stations for narrow -hilly planes such as Boeing 737 or Airbus A320, AZ 15 to 24, the number of positions for wide -hilly aircraft, such as Boeing 787 Dreamliner. The total area of the passenger terminal is to increase by 15 percent.
Chopin Airport under the wings of PPL
