Inter Miami, wrong step with New York Red Bulls
As usual since the start of the season, Javier Mascherano left Luis Suárez on the bench at the kick-off, while his Barcelona Dream Team teammate Lionel Messi started. Rodrigo de Paul, former player of Atlético Madrid, entered from the first minute.
Jorge Ruvalcaba opened the scoring for the New Yorkers in the 15th minute. The “Seagulls” restored parity in the first minute of extra time, through Silvetti.
Shortly after play resumed, the hosts managed to turn the score around with a goal scored by German Berterame in the 55th minute. New York Red Bulls' Robert Foloder scored in the 66th minute, but his goal was disallowed by VAR due to an offside position.
In the 77th minute, the visitors scored again, the author being 17-year-old Adry Mehmeti. Luis Suarez came on for Ian Fray, but his presence did not change the course of events and the hosts had to settle for a single point.
Inter Miami's next match will be against Colorado Rapids. The game will be played on April 18 (Saturday), the “seagulls” will play away.
In addition to Messi and Suárez, on the night of April 11 to 12, teams with other former European stars also played. Before midnight there were two matches, in one of which Austin lost 1-2 to Marco Reus's Los Angeles Galaxy. The German provided the assist for the first of his side's two goals.
Portland Timbers beat FC Los Angeles, the team of Hugo Lloris and Heung-Min Son, 2-1. However, the former Tottenham players were not in the squad for this match.
After midnight, Thomas Muller's Vancouver Whitecaps beat New York City 2-0 at home. Muller was in the Canadians' starting eleven, wore the captain's armband and played the entire game.
