George Simion, after the withdrawal of the Realitatea Plus license: “The coup continues”

The leader of the Alliance for the Union of Romanians (AUR), George Simion, reacted on Tuesday, April 7, after the National Audiovisual Council (CNA) decided to withdraw the Realitatea Plus license, denouncing the fact that “the coup continues”, in an obvious reference to the cancellation of the first round of the 2024 presidential elections.
The president of AUR also says that the station was “the only big television that allowed us to talk”.
George Simion had this reaction in a message published on his Facebook page, and then put the statement on a red background.
“The coup continues: they withdrew the license of Realitatea TV, it was the only big television that allowed us to speak! DOWN WITH THE CENSORSHIP!!! (author's emphasis, no)”, wrote the AUR leader, in his message.
Realitatea Plus must stop broadcasting, after the National Audiovisual Council decided to withdraw the license of the television station, due to unpaid fines from 2024, Pagina de Media wrote.
CNA analyzed in the public meeting on Tuesday the situation of unpaid fines of Romanian television stations. Following the report presented, it was found that Realitatea Plus did not pay 28 fines from 2024 totaling 605,000 lei.
Realitatea Plus had paid its fines for the year 2025, but the violation of the audiovisual legislation by not paying the fines for 2024 will lead to the closure of the station.
Mircea Toma said at the CNA meeting that the institution had warned Realitatea since February to pay its debts and that the TV station only paid partially, namely those from 2025.
