JD Vance's visit to Budapest. The leader of the Hungarian opposition thunders: this is our country


“Statement on the occasion of the US Vice President's visit to Budapest: No foreign country can interfere in the elections in Hungary. This is our country. Hungarian history is not written in Washington, Moscow or Brussels – it is written on Hungarian streets and squares,” Magyar wrote on Facebook.

Parliamentary elections in Hungary will be held next Sunday. “There are five days left,” emphasized the leader of the Hungarian opposition.

JD Vance came to support Viktor Orban.

The American vice president arrived in the Hungarian capital on Tuesday morning with his wife. Before departing, Vance stressed that he was leaving to meet “his good friend Viktor.” Hungarian Foreign Minister Peter Szijjarto declared after his arrival that the visit was evidence of a “golden age” in Hungarian-American relations.

The government spokesman in Budapest, Zoltan Kovacs, described the visit as historic. In a post on the platform, X emphasized that its purpose was to express support for Prime Minister Viktor Orban.

Vance and Orban will take part together in a rally organized in the center of Budapest. The event is scheduled for 17 on Tuesday.

The two-day visit of the American vice president takes place a few days before the parliamentary elections in Hungary. The prime minister's party will face the opposition TISHA, which, according to independent polls, has an advantage of up to several percent over the ruling Fidesz.
