Poles will spend Easter most often in southern Europe – mainly in Italy, Spain and Malta – according to information provided to PAP by representatives of the tourism industry. In the country, the Baltic Sea is the most popular, but the popularity of trips to the mountains is decreasing.

“The countries of southern Europe are still most popular. Italy is responsible for over 21 percent of all reservations, followed by Spain, with a share exceeding 20 percent, and Greece, which is responsible for 12 percent of bookings (reservations – PAP). When it comes to cities, Barcelona, ​​Rome and Rhodes dominate,” Marcin Starkowski from the eSky.pl travel agency told PAP.

He added that every year Easter becomes an increasingly popular opportunity for a short trip abroad. The office's data shows that the number of people planning the so-called Easter city ​​breaks (short, often weekend-long trips to the city – PAP) increased by over 90% in 2026. compared to last year.

Starkowski believes that an active way of spending Easter will become more and more popular, because such trips allow you to take advantage of the first days of sunny weatherrelax in attractive tourist places and experience Christmas traditions in other parts of Europe. One such tradition is that of the Greek island of Corfu, where residents throw ceramic vessels from their balconies on Holy Saturday, which is intended, among other things, to bring them happiness – he pointed out. This ritual attracts thousands of visitors from all over the world every year.

Eliza Maćkiewicz from the Travelist.pl booking portal pointed out in a comment to PAP that for many people planning Easter trips abroad “remains a complementary choice, not the dominant one.” She added that Poland is strengthening its position as the main destination during this period, which is influenced by economic factors and the geopolitical situation – the war in the Middle East and the growing uncertainty related to air travel.

The information she provided shows that Poles mainly choose nearby destinations – primarily the Czech Republic, which is responsible for a quarter of foreign bookings. This is followed by Montenegro and Croatia, which together account for almost 30%. reservations, as well as Slovakia and Greece with a share of approx. 7% each.

In our country, the most popular destination for trips is the Baltic Sea – the seaside region is responsible for two-thirds of all Easter reservations, and its share in trips has increased this year by several percentage points compared to 2025. Most guests choose the seaside in Kołobrzeg, as well as Świnoujście, Mielno, Międzyzdroje and Gdańsk. However, the popularity of the mountains decreased significantly – from approximately one third to less than one fifth of Easter trips.

Poles planning air travel for the holiday season were most often looking for tickets to European cities. Marta Gałuszka from the Fru platform told PAP that 5 percent. searches concernedabout Rome, 4.4 percent Milan, 2.7 percent Barcelona, ​​2.4 percent Alicante, and 2% each. Paris and Malta. As reported by the holiday.pl portal, the number of this year's reservations is 21 percent higher. higher than last year, and for many travelers Easter is the first opportunity to relax abroad in the spring and summer season. For an Easter trip, Poles most often choose Egypt, Spain, Cyprus, Turkey, Malta and Greece. The number of bookings to Italy increased by 157%. compared to 2025, to Malta by 78%, to Morocco by 67%, and to Spain – by 62%.

The Ryanair airline, citing its own data, announced that the most frequently chosen travel destination between April 1 and April 8 this year was: there is Italy, where 42 percent plan to go. passengers. Spain came second (22%) and Greece third (8%). 6% of people plan to spend Easter in Malta. people, in France 5 percent, and in Croatia and Portugal – 4 percent each.

In Italy, the most popular destinations this year are Milan (26 percent of bookings to this country), Rome (11 percent) and Bari (9 percent), and in Spain: Alicante (26 percent) and Malaga (19 percent).

Data from the Travelplanet.pl office indicate that the number of reservations for Easter trips increased by 1/5 year on year. Interest in traveling to Malta has increased the most – by over 80%. year to year, and also to Spain – by over 60%. At the same time, the number of weekly bookings decreased in favor of trips lasting four to six days.

This year, Holy Saturday falls on April 4, Easter – April 5, and Easter Monday – April 6. (PAP)
