The authorities in Oslo announced on Friday that at the beginning of next year, among Norwegians aged 20 to 35, they will draw those who will be able to reduce their income tax. The government wants to check if it will motivate them to enter the labor market.

In its assumptions, the program is to convince young Norwegians to take up paid work as soon as possible instead of using the social care system as soon as possible. If a person falling in this age group achieves income and is drawn, the tax he will have to pay will be reduced by up to 27.5 thousand. crowns (almost PLN 10,000). The lucky ones will be monitored by the administration for a period of 3 to 5 years to assess whether the proposed solution actually affects their professional activity and reduces system loads.
“This is probably the biggest experiment of this scale in the world,” said Simen Markussen, director of the Frisch Center, a research institution that, together with the Ministry of Finance, was preparing the program.
The announced project caused mixed feelings among the oppositions against the Central Policyd Government of Party of Party. Conservatives reminded that they presented a similar idea 4 years ago, but the ruling party today rejected it. Ane Breivik from the liberal Venstre recognized the lottery proposed by the Minister of Finance Jens Stoltenberg as “unfair”, demanding that the program takes over the program in this age group. The right -wing party of progress supported a surprisingly work party. Her economic spokesman, Hans Andreas Limi, emphasized that “work should pay off more than being on benefit.”
The final shape of the tax lottery will be presented in the budget for 2026, which is to be presented to the Parliament in October.
