The government's actions aimed at introducing a senior voucher have been going on for two years.
At the beginning of the year, we reported that the work was to be significantly accelerated, while the media reported that the costs of implementing the program turned out to be higher than expected, which was supposed to suspend preparations for the voucher.

Now the Government Plenipotentiary for Senior Policy has informed that the government has not withdrawn from special support for people receiving pensions. “The act introducing the senior voucher, as planned, is to enter into force this year,” admitted Marzena Okła-Drewnowicz in an interview with Wprost.pl.
Will the 2026 senior voucher stay? The government confirms the plans
As a reminder: the senior voucher is support available to people who are over 75 years of age. The state will pay for care services, which can be performed for a minimum of five hours. per month, and for a maximum of 50 hours. Support will be provided by caregivers who have undergone appropriate training and have the appropriate certificate.

The senior voucher is intended to help older people in everyday functioning and relieve the burden on their families. Financial support is to be directed directly to care services, not in the form of cash.
Senior voucher 2026. Who will be able to benefit from the support?
The program provides support up to PLN 2,150 per month, which corresponds to approximately 50 hours of specialist care. The money will not go to seniors, but will cover the costs of services such as assistance with daily activities, access to health services and hygiene care. Municipalities are to be responsible for the implementation of the service.

As Okła-Drewnowicz emphasizes in an interview with Wprost.pl, the project underwent extensive consultations and received a positive opinion from the Joint Commission of the Government and Local Government.
“A big challenge is the huge deficit of properly prepared staff. It is necessary to encourage and create conditions for potential caregivers to take up employment in the care services sector, especially since not all municipalities provide these services, despite the statutory obligation,” explained the Government Plenipotentiary for Senior Policy in an interview with Wprost.pl.
Senior voucher 2026. We know the income criteria
According to the current assumptions of the senior voucher project, when granting it, the income of the senior and his or her relatives will be taken into account:
- in the case of a senior, income will not exceed PLN 3,410;
- in the case of the senior's relatives, the income cannot be lower than PLN 3,500 and cannot exceed PLN 6,700 per month (in the case of a single-person household) or PLN 10,000. PLN (in the case of a household consisting of several people).
The government representative announces that the act on the senior voucher is to enter into force later this year. The program is to be addressed to all age groups of seniors, not only to people over 75.
