PSD Mayor: “Grindeanu is playing a dangerous game with both the party and the country. PSD will be swallowed whole by AUR”
The PSD mayor of Buzău, Constantin Toma, known for his positions against the decisions taken by the party leadership, says that it is a “bad idea” to consult internally in the PSD regarding whether or not to remain in government: the PSD will come out weakened, the world is not stupid”.
Constantin Toma made these statements on Friday, on RFI, where he said that through the referendum called on April 20 in the Sorin Grindeanu party “he wants to show that he has muscles”.
“I think it's a bad decision (consultation from the PSD – no), because that's what we're missing, political instability, to increase interest even more, to eventually increase the cost of living and endanger the country, that's what it's all about (…). Personally, I will vote against leaving the government,” said the mayor of Buzău.
He believes that the PSD has something to lose from the internal consultation: “It's a game to strengthen the party, but my personal opinion is that it weakens it. The PSD will come out weakened, the world is not stupid.”
“We will be swallowed whole by GOLD”
Constantin Toma draws attention to the fact that PSD is losing voters in favor of AUR: “The party is already weakened. Many of our voters, among our supporters, have already switched to the AUR camp and will continue to switch”.
About the leader of the PSD, Sorin Grindeanu, Toma said that he is “trying to strengthen himself personally, to show that he has muscles”, but that he is “very wrong”: “The world does not really accept his game, including inside the party there are many voices (…). We will be swallowed by the AUR completely, and after the elections in 2028, I think the AUR will govern alone”.
“PSD goes like a carrot in the ground”
When asked if he thinks that Sorin Grindeanu has to deliver something to the party, after all the criticism of Prime Minister Ilie Bolojan, Constantin Toma replied: “Well, he doesn't really have anything to deliver, he delivered enough to take us gradually… like a carrot in the ground, so, how can I tell you. He tries to be as virulent as possible, thinking that he scores in this way also electorally, or, I know, it grows inside the party. It doesn't grow, it decreases, from It's a dangerous game he plays with the party and the country.”
The PSD mayor of Buzău expects the party to decide after the internal consultation on April 20 to leave the government: “99% we leave the government, if Sorin Grindeanu and those who are next to him decide this matter. No one in the party, since the party leadership is the one who validates from a simple local councilor, candidate for mayor, candidate for Parliament, to the CJ and so on”.
Asked what he thinks will happen next, Constantin Toma answered: “They are eating our GOLD, that is, we will not be a voice in the opposition.”
The PSD leadership decided, in a meeting of the National Political Bureau on Monday, that the internal consultation that Sorin Grindeanu has been talking about since the end of December will take place on April 20. It is an internal referendum, through which party members will be asked if they want PSD to remain in government and if so, in what form – with or without Ilie Bolojan, with or without USR. However, the questions for this consultation have not yet been determined.
