March 27 10:41

On April 10, the Norilsk Museum in the Krasnoyarsk Territory will open the exhibition “Vladimir Potanin’s Olympic Collection: 80 Years of Hockey Glory.”

Visitors will be presented with more than 60 exclusive exhibits. Among them are original medals, diplomas, Olympic torches and items of equipment of famous hockey players. The collection will allow us to trace the evolution of award design and the development of technology in sports over almost seventy years – from the golden debut of the USSR national team in Cortina d'Ampezzo (1956) to the triumph in Pyeongchang (2018).

The keeper of the heritage is the president of Norilsk Nickel, chairman of the board of trustees of the Night Hockey League, Vladimir Potanin. His collection is a kind of “bridge” connecting the glorious past, bright present and future of national sport.

On the opening day of the exhibition, April 10, the IX charity hockey match will take place with the participation of legends of world and domestic sports. Famous athletes will come to Norilsk – Vyacheslav Fetisov, Alexey Kasatonov, Valery Kamensky, Alexander Yakushev, Andrey Kovalenko, Ilya Kovalchuk, Pavel Datsyuk, Alexey Morozov, as well as Honorary President of the IIHF Rene Fasel.

As the president of Norilsk Nickel and chairman of the board of trustees of the Night Hockey League, Vladimir Potanin systematically supports Russian hockey at all levels – from the children's programs of the Red Machine NPPH and support of the Russian national team to the world's northernmost professional club, HC Norilsk, and the massive amateur movement of the Night League. His collection becomes a bridge connecting the glorious past, vibrant present and future of the national sport.

Norilsk Nickel has been a reliable partner of Russian hockey for many years, supporting both professional and amateur hockey. Thanks to the company’s social and sports initiatives, Norilsk acquired the status of “Homeland of Ice” and attracted the attention of many prominent representatives of the hockey community.

The project is being implemented jointly with the Russian International Olympic University (RIOU) and Norilsk Nickel with the support of the Night Hockey League.

The exhibition will be open to the public from April 11 to June 14. Entrance to the Norilsk Museum will be free for everyone. You can also get acquainted with the exhibits and history of the collection on the official website of the project.
