Orban is leading his Fidesz party into elections on April 12. Netanyahu called him a “friend,” thanked him for his steadfastness in “turbulent times” and addressed the Hungarians.
“You need leaders who can protect against this rising tide, and also provide security and stability for their countries. Viktor Orban has this in abundance. I know many world leaders and I can tell you that he is up there at the top. Orban is stability, safety, security,” says the Israeli prime minister.
He also thanked the Hungarian government for allegedly “defending Western civilization from the wave of radical, fanatical Muslims.”
Netanyahu, who has long been friends with Orban, was supposed to attend the conference himself, but could not because of the war with Iran, notes The Times of Israel. His son Yair attended the event and spoke at it.
