The Philippines has already evacuated more than 100,000 residents from its eastern and northern regions as Fung-wong on Sunday turned into a super typhoon before reaching the archipelago, where it is expected to hit at its maximum level with torrential rains, destructive winds and storm surges, reports Reuters.
The storm alert was raised in much of the Philippines to level 5, the highest warning level.
With winds of 185 km/h and gusts of up to 230 km/h, Super Typhoon Fung-wong, locally named Uwan, is forecast to make landfall in Aurora province in central Luzon as early as Sunday evening.
Some areas in Eastern Visayas are already experiencing power outages.
Some images shared by the Philippine Coast Guard in Camarines Sur show evacuees carrying luggage and personal belongings as they are transferred from long narrow passenger boats to waiting trucks as part of precautionary evacuation operations.
Images from Camarines Sur show that the wind speed has already reached a dangerous level, with a local bridge being moved in all directions by the gusts.

Fung-wong approached the Philippines just days after the country was hit by Typhoon Kalmaegi, which killed 204 people and left a trail of destruction in its wake before hitting Vietnam, where it killed five more and devastated coastal communities.
In the fishing village of Vung Cheo in central Vietnam, fishing boats were seen tossed on top of each other on Saturday, in an area where hundreds of lobster farms were also washed away or damaged.
