FCSB and UTA Arad met in the second stage of the Superleague play-out, match ended with the victory of the Romanian champion, 1-0, at the National Arena. David Miculescu, one of the forwards summoned by Mircea Lucescu for the duel with Turkey, scored the only goal of the game. On the other side, Marius Coman, summoned for the first time to the national team, played 45 minutes, being rested by the technician Adrian Mihalcea. After the face-to-face meeting, the two strikers discussed the duel with Turkey and their expectations for the national team.

  • Turkey – Romania will be played on Thursday, March 26, from 19:00, match broadcast by Prima TV. If Romania wins, it will play the final for qualification against the winner between Slovakia and Kosovo, on March 31, 2026.

  • Gazeta Sporturilur will have six reporters in Istanbul, who will send the most important information, reports and multimedia correspondence.

David Miculescu, after FCSB – UTA: “I suffered mentally”

Asked about the goal phase, where captain Darius Olaru made the decisive pass, Miculescu said:

“A very good pass from Olaru. He always gave me good passes, there I asked, there I received and I managed to score.

Mentally, we suffered, even with Metaloglobus we didn't manage to score out of 27 shots, it's like we're also unlucky, because before some shots went in, we don't even know how, and now many are blocked and don't even jump to us. But we're trying to get to the level we were at.

I like to play forward. I've played before, I've played a lot in the center, maybe I still have a little to learn on the lines. It's hard for a while after playing in the wing to go forward.

I am happy to go to the draw and be called up for a very important match for Romania. I hope we get past Turkey and then see who we play in the final“, said David Miculescu.

Marius Coman: “Maybe if I am used it will enter with Turkey”

Called up for the first time to the national team, the striker from Arada spoke after the match, being replaced at half-time, without medical problems, in order not to risk being called up under the “tricolor”:

“We found out before the game (about the call-up). The call-up came after those good matches I had played. I am happy and I will give everything for the national team.

Asked about the half-time change, the striker said: “Yeah, I didn't want to risk it, I didn't feel anything, maybe just a little loaded from the road, and I told Mister I didn't want to risk it. I told him how I felt and decided not to risk it and go out.

I see UTA in the first 2 places in the play-out. We are fighting there, we have a good team and I say we have a chance for the first 2 places.”

In the first half, the young Matei Popa had a decisive intervention, rejecting a great opportunity from Coman: “If it didn't come to me today, maybe if I am used it will go in with Turkey”, said Coman in the flash interview from Digi Sport.
