Ukraine earns twice as much from agricultural exports as Poland and five times as much as the Netherlands. There is a solution to increase our indicators, – mass media.
Agricultural exports from Ukraine for 2024 amounted to 24.7 billion dollars, while Poland has 56 billion, Belgium – 60 billion, and the Netherlands – 137 billion dollars, said the Minister of Agrarian Policy and Food Vitaly Koval.
Ukraine loses money because it exports cheap raw materials, while wealthy countries export value-added products. For example, almost 100% of the soybean and rapeseed harvest is shipped abroad, although Ukrainian processing plants are idle due to a lack of raw materials. The council plans to introduce a 10% duty on oil exports to remedy this situation. It will not affect manufacturers and will only apply to traders.
In the early 2000s, the same duties were introduced for sunflower seeds – as a result, Ukraine began to process it itself and became the world's first exporter of sunflower oil.
Time to choose: to remain a raw material or to turn into a country with added value, Koval believes.
