With the end of the heating season, utility bills may decrease by almost 25%

With the end of the heating season, utility bills may drop by almost a quarter. This is due to a change in the payment system for heat, which has been in effect since March 2025, Sever-Press reports, citing experts.
Previously, heating fees were distributed in equal shares throughout the year. Now residents pay strictly according to the fact of consumption – as much as the general building meter shows, that’s how much they charge. During the frosty months, the amounts grew, but with warming they should drop noticeably. In January and February, the number of complaints about payment bills increased by 20%, but experts attribute this not to an increase in tariffs, but to the amount of heat wasted.
Another reason for the increase in amounts is the increasing coefficient for water for those who have not installed meters or do not transmit readings. Since December 2025, the standard has tripled, and such owners have to pay twice as much for cold water.
